IND vs PAK Reserve Day Weather Report: Heavy Rain In Colombo Ahead Of India vs Pakistan Match

Colombo Weather Today: Colombo witnessed showers through Sunday night as conditions remained gloomy, much to the chagrin of fans.

The fate of the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan hangs in balance as heavy rain continued in Sri Lanka's Colombo on Monday, with the weather prediction for the rest of the day not favourable either. Colombo witnessed showers through Sunday night as conditions remained gloomy, much to the chagrin of fans waiting to see a complete match after the India vs Pakistan fixture in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2023 got washed out due to incessant rainfall.

The Asia Cup Super Four game between India and Pakistan went into reserve day after heavy rain and wet outfield made only 24 overs of play possible on Sunday.

As per the meteorological department, the maximum temperature will be 28 degrees, with nearly 80 per cent possibility of rain. Humidity will be around 81 per cent, with a cloud cover of 99 per cent when the match starts on Monday afternoon.

The contest between the two Asian sides will resume as a full 50-overs-a-side match on Monday at 3 pm, with India 147 for 2 after excellent starts from openers Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubhman Gill (58).

It must be noted that a minimum of 20 overs is required to be completed in both the innings for the match to be constituted an ODI.  Otherwise, both the sides will be sharing one point each -- similar to what happened in Pallekele during the group stage clash.

If the match does get underway, India will end up playing on three consecutive days. India's Super Four match against Sri Lanka is scheduled for Tuesday. India will face Bangladesh on September 15 (Friday).

India VS Pakistan Match Report So Far

India made an aggressive start to the game, with skipper Sharma and Gill scoring better than a run a ball in an opening stand of 121. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi went for 31 runs in his first three overs, paying the price for wayward bowling. However, Naseem Shah kept things under control from the other end, beating Rohit's bat repeatedly with outswing and extra bounce.

The opening stand was broken after Rohit fell to leg spinner Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi got Gill out with a slower ball in his second spell. Virat Kohli (8*) and KL Rahul (17*), who returned to the squad after an injury earlier this year, were at the crease when rain arrived.
