IND Vs ENG T20: Virat Kohli Becomes The First Man On Planet To Score 3000 T20 Runs; Top 10 Run Scorers

As India thrash England in the 2nd T20I, Virat Kohli managed to go past the hurdle of 3000 career runs.

India vs England 2nd T20I ended on a good note for team India. Indian captain Virat Kohli became the first batsman in international cricket to go past the 3000 run mark in T20Is. Kohli attained this record in Ahmedabad during the 2nd India vs England T20 match. The Indian captain scored 73 runs off 49 balls with five fours and three sixes. This innings of his helped team Indian secure an easy win in eighteen overs.

Kohli now has 3001 runs in 87 T20Is. He has scored 26 fifties and his highest score in T20s is 94*. He was already the player with the most runs in T20s. Martin Guptill is at number two in the list while Rohit Sharma is in the third position with 2773 runs.

India were chasing a total of 165 runs after the bowlers did not allow the England batsmen to score freely in the death overs. India began their second innings shakily as opener KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck. But the debutant Ishan Kishan made the most of the opportunity he got. The Mumbai Indians batsman scored a quick fire 56 of 32 balls and built a partnership with his captain to ensure India reaches to a score from where it would get difficult for English bowlers to contain the Indian batsman.

The next T20I between India and England will be played on 16 March 2021 at 7 pm, IST at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
