The Indian captain made an huge impact by hitting a six on his very first ball, followed by another massive six on the next delivery. With this feat, Rohit Sharma became the first opener in Test cricket history to hit sixes on the first two balls of a match.
The senior opener made an explosive start to his innings by hitting two sixes off the first two balls bowled by Khalid Ahmed. With this achievement, he became the first opener and the fourth player overall to accomplish this feat.
The first instance in Test history was achieved by Foffy Williams in 1948. Sachin Tendulkar also hit two sixes on his first two balls in 2013, followed by Umesh Yadav in 2019. However, Rohit is the first opener to achieve this milestone in 147-year history of Test cricket.
