Reason Why Shubman Gill Will Miss India vs Bangladesh T20I Series
India's focus is on the World Test Championship rather than T20Is, and overusing Shubman Gill as an opener in both formats could increase the risk of injury.
India vs Bangladesh T20I Series: Team India's star opener Shubman Gill is set to be rested for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which takes place from October 6 to October 9.
The decision could be influenced by the need to keep him fresh, given his crucial role in India's top order during the Test series. After T20Is against Bangladesh, India will face New Zealand in a two-match Test series starting on October 16, concluding on November 5.

To ensure Gill's fitness for Test series against New Zealand, the team management may choose to rest him for the T20I series against Bangladesh. Not only Shubman Gill but also several other key players may be rested for T20Is vs Bangladesh with the upcoming three-Test series against New Zealand in mind.
"Yes, Shubman will be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series. If you look at the fixture, the three T20Is will be played on October 7 (Gwalior), 10 (Delhi) and 13 (Hyderabad). Now first Test vs New Zealand starts October 16. So with a turnaround of three days, it is important to give Gill a break," a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from T20Is, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal have stepped up as the new top-order openers. Currently, India's focus is on the World Test Championship rather than T20Is, and overusing Gill as an opener in both formats could increase the risk of injury.
