Chasing a modest target of 128 was no big deal for Suryakumar Yadav's side, as he maintains his cent percent winning record as T20I skipper ever since being named permanent in the aftermath of Rohit Sharma's retirement.

The sides will next face each other on October 9 in Delhi, which will be a do-or-die fixture for Bangladesh.

India vs Bangladesh 1st T20I | As It Happened

Suryakumar Yadav won the coin toss and elected to bowl first on a Gwalior surface that was coming into the international circuit after a very long time. The hosts were off to a stellar start as Arshdeep Singh affected dismissals of the Bangladesh openers inside 13 balls into the match, and the Bangla Tigers never looked in control ever since.

Partnerships started to form but took no big form as India did extremely well at chipping with wickets at regular intervals, and the match saw the comeback of Varun Chakravarthy, who managed to take his first international wicket in 1165 days, and ended up registering his best T20I figures.

The match also saw a memorable debut from Mayank Yadav, as the 22-year-old bowled his first-ever T20I over as maiden and scalped his maiden wicket in his 2nd over to finish the match with the figures of 1/21 in his 4 overs.

A late surge from ever-reliable Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped Bangladesh cross the 120-run mark, and the Bangladeshi all-rounder remained unbeaten on 35 off 32 balls, as the visitors were bundled out for 127 in 19.5 overs.

Arshdeep Singh was India's standout bowler on the night as he finished his spell for 3/14 in 3.5 overs and has now scalped 24 wickets in his last 11 T20I matches.

India were off to a flying start as openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma made their intentions clear with blistering hitting and in the process, smashig the likes of Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed.

A terrible mix-up led to an unfortunate runout of Abhishek Sharma at the non-striker's end but the wicket did not derail the momentum of the Indian side, as skipper Suryakumar Yadav lit the stage apart with his 'Supla Shots' and scored an impactful 29 off 14 before his unlucky dismissal at the boundary rope off Mustafizur Rahman's bowling.

Sanju Samson soon followed his skipper back into the dugout 15 runs later, and India were 80/3, but the top order scored at a run rate of 10+, which left their middle order with a chase less than the required run rate of 5.

Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy scored an unbeaten stand of 52 off 24 balls to seal a sensational win with 49 balls remaining.
