IND vs AUS 1st Test: Twitter calls Rohit Sharma 'Rahul Gandhi of Indian cricket' after his flop batting

Following his dismissal, social media erupted again to criticise his performance, demanding his axing from the team

Rohit Sharma returned to the Indian Test team after a long wait of 11 months. However, he couldn’t utilise the opportunity he bagged in the first game against Australia in Adelaide. After throwing away his wicket casually in the first innings, Rohit fell prey to Nathan Lyon once again after scoring just 1 run.

The incident happened in the 92^nd over when Rohit moved down the line but got undone by the turn and bounce on Lyon’s off break. The ball struck the pad and took a tiny chunk of the blade before flying towards Peter Handscomb who reacted superbly to knock him out.

Earlier on day 1 of the ongoing match, the 31-year-old After hitting Nathan Lyon threw away his wicket despite getting off the mark with a couple of sixes. In the 38th over, Rohit decided to hit him again the very next delivery for some inexplicable reason but Harris took the catch this time easily without moving an inch.
