ICC Test Rankings: Joe Root Surpasses Virat Kohli And Jasprit Bumrah, Joins Top 10

ICC Test Rankings: Pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who took 9 wickets in the first Test against England, has once again joined the top 10 list in the bowlers' rankings.

New Delhi: Joe Root, who scored a total of 173 runs in the first Test against India at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, has surpassed Indian captain Virat Kohli in the ICC Test batsmen's rankings. Root has been ranked at number four with 846 points, while Virat Kohli has dropped to fifth place.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who took a total of 9 wickets in the first Test against England at Trent Bridge, has also gained a spot in the latest rankings. Bumrah in once again ranked the top 10 in the Test bowlers' rankings. He has moved up to number 9 with 760 points. 

In addition, Bangladesh's senior player Shakib Al Hasan, who recently excelled in both bowling and batting in the five-match T20 series against Australia, has become the world's number one all-rounder in T20 Internationals. 

Kane Williamson At First spot As Batsman 

In the latest ranking of batsmen released by the ICC, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is ranked at number one with 901 points. While Australia's senior batsman Steve Smith is second with 891 points, his companion Marnus Labuschagne is ranked at number three with 878 points. After this, Joe Root is ranked at number four and Virat Kohli at number five.  

Ravichandran Ashwin Retains Second Spot As Bowler

India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retains his second position in the bowlers' rankings with 856 points. Australia pacer Pat Cummins stays at number one. He is followed by New Zealand pacer Tim Southee as third and Australia's Josh Hazlewood as fourth. 

James Anderson, who bowled amazingly in the first Test against India, has also benefited in the latest rankings. He has now progressed to seventh rank with 795 points. Stuart Broad is following him at the eighth position.
