ICC Rankings 2022: Jasprit Bumrah Reclaims Number 1 Spot In ODI Bowler Rankings

ICC ODI Rankings 2022: Jasprit Bumrah's brilliant bowling display helped India chase a minimal total against England in the first ODI.

ICC ODI Rankings: Indian fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed his number 1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings after an astonishing display of bowling against England in the recently concluded 1st ODI of the three-match ODI series. Jasprit Bumrah in the process, displaced Trent Boult off the top as he jumped three places to be at the number 1 position.

New Zealand’s Trent Boult now sits at number 2 rank in ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings with 712 rating points. Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has dropped down to the third place and now has a 681 rating.

Bumrah had lost the top spot to Boult in February 2020 after being No 1 for most of the preceding two years. Bumrah, whose personal best rating was 841 when he touched it against West Indies on November 1, 2018, lately, has been in great touch and has hit the purple patch at the right time that is ahead of the 2022 T20I World Cup.

A recent dip in form has cost Chris Woakes four places as the English pacer has dropped from third to seventh with a rating of 673. In the process, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood jumped to the fourth spot with a 679 rating, Afghanistan’s off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman jumped to fifth with a 676 rating, and Bangladesh’s all-rounder Mehedi Hasan jumped to sixth with a 675 rating. The 8th, 9th, and 10th spots have seen no changes as Matt Henry (8th with 672), Mohammad Nabi (9th with 657), and Rashid Khan (10th with 651) maintain their place in the Top 10.

IND Vs ENG, 1st ODI

Bumrah returned with the figures of 6 for 19 as India outplayed England by winning by 10 wickets at Kennington Oval, London on Tuesday. Elected to bowl first, Rohit Sharma-led team was in top-notch form as a brilliant exhibition of bowling concluded England’s innings for a paltry score of 110.

India finished the job within 18.4 overs as the famous duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma scored unbeaten 31 and 76 respectively.

The Gujarat-born cricketer will next be in action against England at The Lord’s, on July 14, Thursday.
