Dejected over the Pulwama attacks which took precious lives of 40 CRPF personnel, Indian captain Virat Kohli took a huge step on Friday. Hours after offering his condolences to the martyrs on social media, Kohli announced the cancellation of the RP-SG Sports Honours event.
The Indian skipper took to his official Twitter handle to announce the development.
“The RP-SG Indian Sports Honours has been postponed. At this heavy moment of loss that we all find ourselves in, we would like to cancel this event that was scheduled to take place tomorrow,” the tweet read.

Launched in September 2017, the ‘RP-SG sports awards’ is a joint venture of Kohli and business tycoon Sanjeev Goenka which has created a platform to reward sports personalities for their achievements during the course of a year.
Earlier, Kohli condemned the unfortunate terror attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that he was in shock after the worst attack ever on security personnel in the region.
“I'm shocked after hearing about the attack in Pulwama, heartfelt condolences to the martyred soldiers & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured jawaans,” Virat Kohli tweeted.

Besides Kohli, several people from the cricketing fraternity including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir etc. mourned for this massive loss. The BCCI also condoled the tragic incident at Pulwama through its acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary.
