NZ vs ENG 2nd Test: Harry Brook & Joe Root Power England To Series-Winning 323-Run Victory Over New Zealand

England secured a 323-run victory over New Zealand in the second Test, clinching the series after securing an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

NZ vs ENG 2nd Test: England defeated New Zealand by a massive margin of 323 runs in the second NZ vs ENG Test of the three-match series on December 8 (Sunday) at Basin Reserve, Wellington. England headed into the Test by defeating the hosts in the first match by eight wickets and with his victory in the 2nd NZ vs ENG Test, they have now won the series with an assailable lead of 2-0.

Harry Brook again emerged as the hero for the visitors as he notched up his eighth Test century by scoring a 123-run innings off just 115 balls. Joe Root, on the other hand, rose to the occasion and notched up his 36th Test century in the second innings of the NZ vs ENG 2nd Test.

England Gain Unassalable Lead Of 2-0, Win Series

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, New Zealand did well to restrict England to just 280 runs in the first innings despite Brook’s century. NZ pacer Nathan Smith was the hero with the ball, claiming four wickets.

However, New Zealand batters faltered and could only score 125 runs, conceding a healthy lead of 155 runs to the visitors.

England batters unleashed a belligerent assault on the NZ bowlers in the second innings as the Three Lions declared the innings on 427 runs, setting the target of 583 runs. 

New Zealand batters did a better job with the bat than they did in first innings but could only manage 259 runs on the board, losing the second match by 323 runs and losing the series.

Harry Brook was adjudged the Player of the Match for his 123-run innings in the first innings and 55 runs in the second.
