India secured a magnificent win in the 1st Test, as the batting mayhem of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul blew away Australia's pace attack in the second innings, and the bowling department spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah did the necessary to hand India a historic record, as they are now the first side ever to beat Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, in Test Cricket.
Will Rohit Sharma Open For India?
The suspense will be around the batting position of Rohit Sharma, who is making his return to the side for the second Test. The Indian captain is the undisputed opener in the side, but with the emergence of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as an opening duo, team management might shift Rohit Sharma to number 3.
If that will be the case, then placement of Shubman Gill in the Top 4 becomes next to impossible. Therefore, if the Indian think tank is planning to use both, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, in the playing XI for Adelaide Test, then KL Rahul might be going back to his number 5 slot.
The Pink Ball test will mark India's return to the venue that gave them their biggest batting nightmare in Test history, as the Ajinkya Rahane-led side back in 2020 were bundled out for merely 36 runs.
