BBL 14: Glenn Maxwell has stunned the cricketing world, as the Australian all-rounder starts 2025 by gifting the cricketing world arguably the greatest cricket catch in the history on Day 1 of the New Year.

The moment occured during the Match 19 of the Big Bash League 2024-25 between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars at The Gabba, where Glenn Maxwell caught Will Prestwidge off Dan Lawrence's first ball of his spell, at the long-on region, where he initially grabbed the ball with one hand, and tossed it up mid-air to throw it back in the field, and following it up with a regular grab to complete the catch.

With the dismissal, the side were reduced to 106/6 in 16.1 overs, but managed to reach 149, as Melbourne Stars bowlers failed to contain runs in the death overs.

Melbourne Stars Need 150 To Win The Match

Melbourne Stars have lost the momentum and will have to bat immensely well to register their first win of the season. Max Bryant's excellent unbeaten 77 off 48 has guided the side with a score to fight.

Melbourne Stars have played 5 matches and eded up losing every one of those, and due to that, their chances of qualification for the playoffs are all but over.

Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, have won two matches and lost two matches, and will be looking to seal their third win of the season, as the race for semis is heating up.

The top order of Brisbane Heat failed to fire, as the overcast and swining conditions helped the case of the visitors in the opening spell.
