Former South Africa Captain Hints At International Comeback In T20 World Cup 2024

A former South African skipper, currently plying his trade in a T10 League, has hinted at a potential international comeback in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has hinted at the possibility of making an international comeback ahead of T20 World Cup 2024. While India's tour of South Africa will comprise of three T20Is and only six months remaining for the biennial event set to be staged across United States of America (USA) and West Indies, it is being reported that only the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain but a few other senior players could also get a look in.

"I believe that I can return to international cricket as well. We have been speaking about this for the last couple of years. It's just figuring out the balance of the T20 World Cup next year. It's certainly something we have spoken about with the new coach. Watch this space," Du Plessis who is currently plying his trade for the Samp Amry in Abu Dhabi T10, told the broadcasters. He is also set to play for RCB in IPL 2024, not much before the T20 World Cup which would also be perfect preparting heading into the competition albeit in different conditions.

"It is certainly easier the second time around. The first time I came, I was thinking that T20 and T10 are very similar, but it's not. It's very different. My first year was very much a learning opportunity. Now I am a little bit more comfortable slogging from the first ball," Faf said.

"I think the most exciting thing is that there are so many players that surprise you so much. When you play against someone you have not played across. The effectiveness can happen on any day no matter what the name is because the format is so short, you have to be on top of your end game to compete with the skillset there is," the 39-year said.
