ENG vs SA Highlights, T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa beat England by 7 runs in their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 faceoff in St Lucia on Friday (June 21). While the Proteas batted first and scored 163/6 in their 20 overs, the Three Lions came close but eventually ended up a few runs short.
Quinton de Kock was the star performer for the winning team. The Protean wicketkeeper-batter scored 65 off 38 that took the Proteas to a position of solidity. In response, England lost early wickets. However, the 78-run partnership between between Liam Livingstone (33 off 17) and Harry Brook (53 off 37) kept England alive.
In the end England needed 14 runs to win off the last over but a set Brook fell of the first ball with South Africa trusting Anrich Nortje for the last over. It needed a special effort in the field from captain Aiden Markram to hold on to the catch that helped the Proteas take a massive step towards a win.

Keshav Maharaj Pick Of The Bowlers As South Africa's Unbeaten Run Continues
While it was De Kock who was the stand out batters for the winning team, with the ball in hand, Keshav Maharaj recorded exceptional bowling figures of 2/25 off his 4 overs. Kagiso Rabada was brilliant with the ball as well, picking up 2 wickets for 32 runs in his 4-over spell while Ottneil Baartman and Nortje were the other wicket-takers, picking a wicket each.

The result means South Africa remain undefeated in the tournament and are at the top of the table in their Group in the Super Eights with two wins in two matches. The Proteas had previously won by 18 runs in their first match of the Super Eights stage.
