East Delhi Premier League: Gautam Gambhir To Host T20 Cricket Tournament In East Delhi, See Format Here

East Delhi Premier League: Teams from Jangpura, Okhla, Trilokpuri, Kondli, Patparganj, Laxmi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Shahdara, Krishna Nagar and Gandhinagar in East Delhi would be selected after trials.

East Delhi Premier League: Gautam Gambhir, a BJP MP from East Delhi and former Indian batsman is planning to host a T20 cricket tournament soon. Teams from 10 constituencies in East Delhi would be participating in the tournament, which would be played at the Yamuna Sports Complex. According to Gambhir, the tournament would be named East Delhi Premier League. This event would begin in the last week of October and will be played till November. Players from the age group of 17 to 36 years would be participating in the tournament.

According to The Indian Express, the teams from Jangpura, Okhla, Trilokpuri, Kondli, Patparganj, Laxmi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Shahdara, Krishna Nagar and Gandhinagar in East Delhi would be selected after trials. Three former Indian cricketers have been entrusted with the responsibility of selecting players for these teams in the trial.

Gambhir said, "Players from the age of 17 to 36 years will be able to participate in this tournament. The trial will be organized to select the team from each constituency. Players who have played cricket at the international level will select these teams. Transparency would be key during the trials. Players will be able to play in this tournament only from the team in their constituency.  

Team and Player Auctions to be held 

Gambhir said that auctions for the team would be held soon. "Every team will be auctioned with a fixed base price," he explained. Money received from sponsors will be used to provide facilities to the players in the team." At the same time, he said, "The purpose of this tournament is to give people from the region a good experience and an opportunity to play cricket. During this time, any new talent which is found to be capable to excel in Cricket would be fully supported."

Regarding the presence of the audience during the tournament, Gautam Gambhir indicated the prevailing COVID-19 situation to be a deciding factor. He indicated that the tournament would be based on the framework of IPL. Like IPL, sponsors, team jerseys, and mentors will all be present.
