Dinesh Karthik Set To Play For Southern Superstars In Upcoming Legends League Cricket Season
Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian cricketer, has joined the Legends League Cricket (LLC) and will captain the Southern Superstars in the league’s upcoming season.
Dinesh Karthik, the former India wicketkeeper and batter, is set to play in the upcoming season of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). He will not just play, but will be captaining the Southern Superstars team. LLC is slated to begin from September 11 to October 5. India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers and Urbanisers Hyderabad are the remaining teams in the tournament.
Dinesh Karthik has proved to be an incredible lower-order batter with his phenomenal aggressive shotmaking, an example of which came to fore during the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2024 where he made invaluable contributions for his team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

The Southern Superstars took to their official social media handle and announced that the former India batter will ply his trades as captain for the franchise in the third season of the Legends League Cricket.

Karthik, who announced his retirement earlier this year, is also set to make history as the first Indian player in the SA20 league, representing Paarl Royals.
Karthik, who began his IPL career in 2008 with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), has represented six different franchises in India's cash-rich T20 league. He moved to Punjab in 2011 and has also played for the Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders and RCB. Over the course of his 16-year long IPL career, Karthik has fetaured in 257 matches and has scored 4842 runs at the strike rate of 135.36 with his best being the score of 97 runs in an innings. Over his career, he has appeared in 180 international matches for Team India, amassing 3,463 runs.
