Denounce India vs Pakistan World Cup match: Cricket Club of India secretary to BCCI

In the wake of dastardly terror attack, Cricket Club of India (CCI) secretary Suresh Bafna on Sunday said that India should not play a match against Pakistan in the forthcoming World Cup

The cricket fraternity have condemned the "abhorrent" and "heinous" Pulwama terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed their condolences. Forty CRPF soldiers were killed and five others critically injured when a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle laden with explosives into their bus on Thursday.

The Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the convoy of 78 vehicles that was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar.

In the wake of dastardly terror attack, Cricket Club of India (CCI) secretary Suresh Bafna on Sunday said that India should not play a match against Pakistan in the forthcoming World Cup.

Speaking to ANI, Suresh said that nation comes first even before sports and since Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has not yet responded openly, it shows that there are stains in their folds.

“We condemn the terror activities carried out against our army and CRPF personnel. Though CCI is a sporting association but nation comes first even before sports,” he said.

“He (Imran Khan) should respond. He is the Prime Minister and if he believes that Pakistan has no role to play in the attack then why is he not coming out openly. He should come out openly. People should know the truth. He is not coming out openly which means that there are Stains in their folds,” Suresh added.

A day after covering Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s portrait to protest against the dastardly terror attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama, the Cricket Club of India announced on Sunday to remove it completely.

The CCI, which is an affiliated unit of BCCI, is home to the iconic Brabourne Stadium, which has hosted many Test matches and is considered to be a cricketing hub.
