CPL 2023: Barbados Royals Seamer Concedes 34 Runs In 10-Ball Over, Video Goes Viral

CPL 2023: The Barbados Royal pacer failed to get his line and length right and had to pay the price against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Cricket can be a cruel game when it's not your day. Even the best capable players have a nightmarish outing on the cricket field. Ask Stuart Broad, a veteran of over 600 Test wickets, and he will tell you about the day Yuvraj Singh smashed him for six sixes in an over in the T20 World Cup 2007. Even though these are days that do not go on to define an individual, there are such days like in sport and an individual's ability to overcome from such setback often reveals their character and how long successful career they will have.

For now Barbados Royals pacer Nyeem Young will have to put his latest day on the cricket field behind him, learn from his mistakes and put up a better show in his coming fixtures. Young had a forgettable day on the cricket field as he conceded 34 runs in a ten-ball over to finish St Kitts and Nevis Patriots innings against Corbin Bosch and Dominic Drakes in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 fixture on Saturday (August 26).

The incident happened in the 10th match of CPL 2023. Barbados Royals had won the toss and elected to field first at the Warner Park in Basseterre. At the end of 18 overs while they would have felt that they had the match within their grips with Patriots batting on 147/6, in the last two overs the batting team ended up adding 50 runs which took the total to 197/6. While the penultimate over of the innings being bowled by Obed McCoy went for 16 runs, the 20th over went for far too many than the captain's liking.

Young failed to get his line and length right and had he not given away extras, it could well have been a much tidy over but it just wasn't his day and the batters took the most out of their chances. The video of the 34-run final over has gone viral on social media.

Eventually though Barbados Royals went on to win the match by 6 wickets with Rovman Powell scoring 67 off 29 balls.
