China records second lowest total in T20 history, scores 35 runs in 20 overs

China managed to score only 35 runs, losing nine wickets in 20 overs. While China could hit only two boundaries, Skipper Wang played the highest innings of 8 runs

When it comes to the shortest format of the game i.e T20 cricket, it is a common mindset that the batsman would storm the bowlers with powerful hitting. A format of cricket where every batsman comes to the ground with the intention of batting in a stormy form. Proving the common mindset wrong, the Chinese team playing Qualifier with the hope of making a place in the T20 World Cup in 2020 made history.

Before in the World Cup, legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar played an unbeaten 36, playing 174 balls for India. The exact same happened against China in Thailand. The whole team batted for 20 overs, lost 9 wickets and could only manage 35 runs. This is the second smallest score after playing 20 overs in T20 history. In reply, Thailand's team achieved the target in 2.4 balls.

China captain Chen Shiornan decided to bat first before winning the toss, but his decision proved wrong. The skipper himself was the first batsman to be dismissed. After the first wicket with just seven runs on board in the fourth over, China's innings was destroyed by Thailand completely. The batsmen who looked desperate to score runs continued loosing wickets.

In the end, the team could only manage 35 runs, losing nine wickets in 20 over. While China could hit only two boundaries, Wang played the highest innings of 8 runs. On behalf of Thailand, Daniel Jacobs took 3/8 in his 4 overs. Achieving the score quite easily, Thailand's batsmen started fearlessly and ended the match with 104 balls left. Daniel Jacobs scored 19 and Shafiqul Haq scored 13. Both scored 2-2 fours each.

For the T20 World Cup in 2020, a total of 62 teams are playing 12 regional games. Out of which 25 teams will play five regional finals, out of which 8 teams will make the place in the main qualifier. In the World Cup, top 9 teams with host Australia will enter straightly (till December 31, 2018), after which six teams will be selected from the qualifiers.
