Chetan Sakariya Named In List Of Bowlers With Suspected Bowling Action Ahead Of IPL 2024 Auction
The Saurashtra-based player has taken part in a total of 19 IPL games and also made it in the India national side for an ODI and two T20Is.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya to the list of players with a suspected bowling action, but then not imposed a ban on him. The BCCI on Friday also told all the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises that Sakariya is among the seven bowlers who have been spotted to have a suspect bowling action.
The Saurashtra-based player has taken part in a total of 19 IPL games and also made it in the India national side for an ODI and two T20Is. As per the Cricbuzz, his report has not made any headlines and the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) officials and some close sources to the player have expressed unawareness over his inclusion in the list.
The board also added that the 25-year-old pacer has not been banned from bowling and he is currently away from the game because of a stress fracture in the back. IPL franchise Delhi Capitals also released Chetan ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. However, as per sources, he will be making a return very soon and is likely to take part in the Ranji Trophy this season.
Chetan missed out on playing the entire season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The last time he was seen in action was back during IPL 2023 and played the last game against Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The likes of Mumbai Cricket Association’s Tanush Kotian, Kerala Cricket Association’s Rohan Kunnummal and Salman Nizar, Gujarat Cricket Association’s Chirag Gandhi, Saurabh Dubey of Vidarbha Cricket Association and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s Arpit Guleria are also in the list of players with a suspected bowling action. Apart from these bowlers, Karnataka State Cricket Association’s Manish Pandey and KL Shrijith have been banned from bowling.
