Bilawal Bhutto-Headed Panel To Take A Call On Pakistan's ODI World Cup Participation In India: Report

While Pakistan are unlikely to take a "tough stand" towards the marquee ICC event it could ask for a permission for a security check in India.

Even though the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have seemingly closed in on a new date for the India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, seems like the Babar Azam-led team's participation in the tournament is still not final. Fresh media report suggests that the Bilawal Bhutto-headed committee, which has been appointed by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, will meet on Thursday to take a final call in this regard.

Even though the report carried out by Cricbuzz claims that Pakistan are unlikely to take a "tough stand" towards the marquee ICC event, it could ask for a permission for a security check in India before a nod for the Men in Green's participating in the tournament.

"A high-profile meeting will decide on the World Cup participation," a top PCB official told Cricbuzz on Tuesday. However, no further details were given away. As per the same report, the Bilawal Bhutto-headed committee comprises of Sports Minister Ahsan Mazari, Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin ul Haq, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Tariq Fatmi, a former diplomat.

It is worth highlighting that the India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 clash was originally slated to happen on October 15 in Ahmedabad. However, security agencies suggested the BCCI to shift the match to a different date to avoid clash with the start of Navaratri which is celebrated with fervour in the state of Gujarat.

Post that, the ICC and BCCI have come close to finalising a revised schedule with the India vs Pakistan match now happening on October 14. Pakistan's schedule could also see another change with their game against Sri Lanka now happening on October 10 instead of the earlier proposed October 12.

ICC could officially share the new schedule, which includes changes in fixtures of a few other teams as well, anytime soon.
