BCCI Income Tax 2021-22: For the 2021-22 fiscal, the BCCI's total revenue reached Rs 7,606 crore, while its expenditures neared Rs 3,064 crore

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reported an income tax payment of Rs 1,159 crore during the fiscal year 2021-22, marking a significant 37 percent increase compared to the previous year. In response to an inquiry posed in the Rajya Sabha, Pankaj Chaudhary, the Minister of State for Finance, provided a detailed breakdown of the BCCI's income tax contributions as well as its financial inflows and outflows over the past five years based on filed tax returns.

During the financial year 2020-21, the BCCI's income tax payment amounted to Rs 844.92 crore, which was a reduction from the Rs 882.29 crore paid in 2019-20.  In the fiscal year 2019, the board fulfilled tax obligations of Rs 815.08 crore, a substantial increase from the Rs 596.63 crore paid in 2017-18.

For the 2021-22 fiscal, the BCCI's total revenue reached Rs 7,606 crore, while its expenditures neared Rs 3,064 crore. In the 2020-21 fiscal year, the organization recorded an income of Rs 4,735 crore, coupled with expenditures totaling Rs 3,080 crore.

Meanwhile, the BCCI is currently busy working on the revised schedule of the ODI World Cup along with ICC. The tournament is set to commence on October 5 and the fixtures were also announced. However, security agencies informed the Indian Cricket Board to avoid keeping the India vs Pakistan clash on October 15, as proposed in the schedule, since it will coincide with the start of Navaratri a festival celebrated with fervour in Gujarat.

Even though that match is likely to be rescheduled and instead be advanced to October 14, the venue- Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad- is likely to remain unchanged. Meanwhile, a change in schedule of one match will invariably lead to a few other changes with a media report also claiming that Cricket Association of Bengal's (CAB) have put in a request to BCCI to move the Pakistan-England match to a different date as it falls on Kali Puja (November 12).

The final revised schedule of the ODI World Cup 2023 is expected to come out soon.
