Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz has expressed his optimism in concern with the future of the Bangladesh Cricket, as the all-rounder has his eyes set on the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027, which will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Bangladesh are coming off a disastrous Champions Trophy campaign, where they lost to India and New Zealand, and their last leage game against Pakistan ended in 'No Result, as the match was abandoned due to rain.

As reported by ICC, the 27-year-old has shown faith in the players currently present in the national set-up for more than 5 years, stating that everything comes under a 'process' and that, they must 'stay committed to the long-term vision'.

"Currently, there are six to seven players in the team who have been playing international cricket for 7-10 years. They can’t be considered new anymore. It’s a process. We must make decisions now and stay committed to the long-term vision. With two to two-and-a-half years left until the World Cup, we need to start preparing the team immediately. Consistency in selection is key. Starting preparations just two or three months before the tournament will make it very difficult," said Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

"Players like Mushfiqur bhai (Rahman) and others from the previous generation have served the team for 7-8 years, leading Bangladesh cricket to new heights. Now, we have also been around for a long time. Our goal should be to elevate Bangladesh cricket to the next level. The previous generation laid a solid foundation. Our task now is to take it forward," he added.

What's Next For Bangladesh?

Bangladesh will have no representative in IPL 2025. Therefore, the nation will have all of their talisman players available for the home series against Zimbabwe. The African nation will be travelling to Asia, to play 2 Test matches.
