Allan Donald To Continue As Bangladesh's Fast Bowling Coach Till 2023 ODI World Cup

Donald, a veteran of 72 Tests and 164 ODIs, is expected to reach Dhaka by February 22

Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have extended the contract of fast bowling coach Allan Donald until this year's ICC Men's ODI World Cup in India. Donald took up the Bangladesh job in March, 2022 and his contract was until last year's T20 World Cup in Australia.

However, the BCB had later extended his contract till the home series against India.

"Donald's contract is extended till the World Cup," BCB's cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying by 'Cricbuzz' website.

According to the report, the South African pace legend, a veteran of 72 Tests and 164 ODIs, is expected to reach Dhaka by February 22 ahead of the upcoming tour of England, comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, scheduled to begin on March 1. Donald has 330 Test wickets to his credit to go with his 272 scalps in ODIs. Overall, the Protean speedster played 316 first-class matches along with 458 List A games. He even played 2 T20s in his career.

The ODI World Cup will be hosted by India in October-November this year until which Donald will be with the team.

Bangladesh is also expecting the arrival of the team's newly-appointed head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, a former Sri Lankan all-rounder donned the Sri Lankan colours in 26 Tests and 35 ODIs scoring 1274 and 669 runs in them respectively. He comes with a rich coaching experience having served as the head coach of the Sri Lanka national cricket team previously.
