AFG vs NZ In Greater Noida: Despite there being no rain on the first two days of the Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test match in Greater Noida, no play was possible on either days putting a big question mark over the stadium's facility and its ability to host an international fixture. The Greater Noida Stadium Authority has faced criticism as the ground could not be get readied for action.
The field umpires cited "players safety" as the primary reason for not going ahead with the day's action even though there was not a single drop of rainfall on both the days. However, it is now being learnt that the Greater Noida Stadium was not the only option that was presented to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host this match with the other venues offered being the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

The Afghanistan Crickrt Board (ACB) though picked Greater Noida Stadium as their preferred venue for this match. This was due to logistical reasons.
"The BCCI offered us three venues – Kanpur, Bengaluru, and this one. We chose to play at Greater Noida as it was most convenient in terms of logistics. It was a two-hour drive from Delhi airport," Afghanistan board's international cricket manager Menhajuddin Raz told reporters.
"The venue has always been Afghanistan's home venue. If we talk about back from 2016, we have been playing games here," he added.

AFG vs NZ: Toss Delayed On Day 3 Due To Rain
As far as the Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test is concerned, Day 3 of live cricket action is likely to be delayed due to rain. With the outfield wet for the first two days, it would be a nightmarish task now for the ground staff to try and get the match ready for play which is now in danger of being washed out without a ball over the course of the five days.
