“1 last dance”: England Skipper Shares Picture With Stuart Broad Ahead Of His Last Test Appearance

The pacer, who was born in Nottingham, is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.

On Monday, England captain Ben Stokes posted photos with the legendary bowler Stuart Broad, who will be retiring after Day 5 of the fifth Ashes Test. The pair appeared to be having fun together on the pitch in an Instagram photo. Broad has been a member of Stokes' team since June 2022. After succeeding Joe Root as captain, the latter has led England to 12 victories in 19 games.

Stokes captioned the Instagram post, “1 last (dance).”

On Day 3 of the fifth Ashes Test, Broad made his retirement announcement. The 37-year-old, who just reached 600 Test wickets, spoke with Sky Sports and said: "Tomorrow or Monday will be my last game of cricket. It’s been such a wonderful series to be a part of, and I’ve always wanted to finish it on top. England vs Australia has always been the pinnacle for me. I wanted my last bat and bowl to be in the Ashes."

The pacer, who was born in Nottingham, is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. He just surpassed Ian Botham's record of 149, for the most dismissals by an Englishman in the Ashes.
