India defeated three-time CWG champions, South Africa, 17-10 to win a historic first-ever Gold medal in Lawn Bowls at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

India defeated three-time CWG champions, South Africa, 17-10 to win a historic first-ever Gold medal in Lawn Bowls at the Commonwealth Games 2022. India was initially in the lead but South Africa staged a solid fightback to get a lead and ensure that the intense final goes down the wire in Birmingham.

The action was back and forth between South Africa and India. The Indian quartet had started very well, but after three rounds South Africa fought back to level the scores 3-3. After this, India retaliated and showcased top game to widen their lead over South Africa to 8-2 after the 7th round. However, India's lead did not last long and after this round they fumbled. South Africa continued their fight and after the 12th round, the score stood level at 10-10.
After End 13, India turned things back in their favor by extending their lead to 15-10. India were in lead till the very end of the match. The final ended with India beating South Africa 17-10 to win Gold. The quartet of Lovely Choubey, Roopa Rani Tirkey, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Pinky is being praised and hailed by celebs and fans across the country today. India today won the title in the final of the Women's Four event of Lawn Balls for the first time ever in the history of Commonwealth Games 2022.
