WATCH: Ronaldo Calls Saudi Arabia As South Africa During Al-Nassr Press Conference, Leaves Twitter In Splits

Earlier, after much speculation over his future, Portuguese football player Cristiano Ronaldo signed a contract with the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo made an embarrassing mistake when he said 'South Africa' instead of 'Saudi Arabia’. The incident took place during an unveiling event on Tuesday.

"For me it is not the end of my career coming to South Africa," Ronaldo said.

"This is why I want to change and to be honest I really don't worry about what people say. I took my decision and I have a responsibility to change that," added Ronaldo.

While addressing the press, Ronaldo also disclosed that various clubs across the world wanted to sign him but he joined Al-Nassr only.

"Nobody knows but I can say now that I had many opportunities in Europe, many clubs in Brazil, in Australia, in the U.S. even in Portugal, many clubs tried to sign me," said Ronaldo.

"But I give credit to this club for the opportunity to develop not only football but this amazing country. I know what I want and of course what I don't want as well."

Earlier, after much speculation over his future, Portuguese football player Cristiano Ronaldo signed a contract with the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. While there is still some time to go before Ronaldo can don the club's jersey and net goals for them, the fans of the side are desperate to see him play for their favourite side. In fact, supporters of the club were seen performing his trademark Siuu celebration in the stands and chanting his name in the club's first match after the five-time Ballon d'Or Winner's signing was made official.

It should be noted that the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward is expected to become the highest-paid footballer in the world with the latest deal set to fetch him a whopping $200 million a year. In an official statement from the 37-year-old, Ronaldo said that he was eager to experience a new football league in a different country.

“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia,” he added.
