FIFA Lifts Ban On AIFF, India To Host Women's U-17 World Cup In October As Planned

FIFA Lifts Ban On AIFF: The The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has lifted the ban on All India Football Federation (AIFF) after the world football governing body received confirmation that the mandate of the committee of administrators that was set up to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee had been terminated, ANI reported. Following the big announcement, FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 will be hosted in India from 11 to 30 October 2022, as planned.

"The decision was taken after FIFA received confirmation that the mandate of the committee of administrators that was set up to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee had been terminated and that the AIFF administration had regained full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs," the official statemnt said.

"FIFA and the AFC will continue to monitor the situation and will support the AIFF in organising its elections in a timely manner," it added.

Earlier, FIFA had suspended India for "undue influence from third parties" and said the U-17 Women's World Cup "cannot currently be held in India as planned".

It was for the first time FIFA banned AIFF in its 85-year history, with the apex body saying there have been "flagrant violations of the FIFA Statutes".
