The Central government on Tuesday chaired an all-party meeting over the ongoing economical crisis in Sri Lanka. During the meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made the initial remarks and explained the current situation. "The matter pertains to very close neighbour. We naturally worry about consequences and spillover," Jaishankar said during the meeting.

The UK broke an unwelcome record on Tuesday when Heathrow in south-west London recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius on the hottest day ever experienced in the country. In a relief for Nupur Sharma, the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed that no coercive action should be taken against the suspended BJP leader over her remarks on the Prophet, ANI reported. Saying that it never wanted Nupur Sharma to visit every court for relief, the Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala, asked various states to respond to her request to club multiple FIRs against her. FIRs have been lodged against Sharma in Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Assam. The top court sought responses of the Centre and the concerned states by August 10, the next date of hearing.

The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday sought report from Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital after a video of a woman delivering her baby outside the Centre-run facility went viral on social media. It is being alleged that the woman was denied admission by the hospital. In the viral video, some women, including nurses, can be seen holding saree to cover the pregnant woman during the delivery. According to report, the hospital authorities have initiated an investigation after government's intervention.

The incidents of technical snags in several Indian civil flights refuses to cease as two aircraft of low-budget air carrier Go First were diverted to Delhi and Srinagar on Tuesday after technical glitches were spotted in their in the engines. According to reports, GoAir A320 aircraft VT-WGA flight G8-386 from Mumbai to Leh was diverted to Delhi and GoAir A320 aircraft VT-WJG flight G8-6202 from Srinagar to Delhi was turned back to Srinagar after they faced engine snags earlier in the day.

After he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome leading to partial face paralysis, the "Baby" and "Let Me Love You" hitmaker Justin Bieber had earlier postponed his shows. This had cast a shadow of uncertainty on his India concert as well. But, the singer has now announced that he will resume the 'Justice World Tour'. The tour is on track for the show in New Delhi on October 18. The event will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN Stadium).

Shehnaaz Gill, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali', has another film in the pipeline. Shehnaaz became an overnight sensation with her participation in the reality TV show 'Bigg Boss 13'. According to TOI, the actress will now be working with Sonam Kapoor's sister Rhea Kapoor who is also a producer. As per TOI, Rhea Kapoor's husband Karan Boolani will be helming the film. The film will also star Anil Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar and will be a modern take on relationships.

Renowned ghazal singer Bhupinder Singh breathed his last on Monday at a hospital in Mumbai. The 82-year-old singer succumbed to suspected colon cancer and Covid-19-related complications. His death was announced by his wife Mitali Singh.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Tuesday announced new dates for the postponed Asian Games. The Games will be held in Hangzhou, China next year, from 23rd September to 8th October. The 19th edition of the Asian Games was earlier slated to be held from September 10 to 25 this year but got postponed on May 6 due to the increase in Coronavirus case in China. According to several media reports, China has prepared 56 grounds in Hangzhou city for the Asian Games.

India recently concluded their 5-match Test series against England by playing the rescheduled 5th Test earlier this month, which England won by 7 wickets. The series ended 2-2, and captains Ben Stokes and Jasprit Bumrah shared the trophy. No Indian batsman has made into the Top 10 list of batsman with highest batting average in Tests since 2020, with Virat and Rohit being the noticeable miss-outs.
