Clear cut explainer on RBI's repo rate hike :-

1. On June 8, the RBI hiked the repo rate by 50 basis points, second time in two months.
2. Last month, RBI had increased the repo rate by 40 basis points.
3. Repo rate is the rate at which the central bank which in this case is the Reserve Bank of India gives loans to commercial banks against government securities  in the event of any shortfall of funds.
4. Repo rate is used by monetary authorities to control inflation. 
5. All kinds of loans provided by commercial banks to be charged with higher intrest rate.
6. RBI has projected the growth of India to be around 7.2%.
7. The National Statistics Organization has estimated the growth rate of India for 2021 - 2022 to be around 8.7%.
8. Inflation will stay in the first three quarters of this year.
9. Retail inflation will be around 6.7% this year.
