While playing the 100th Test of his career, Root scored a century and also attained a 200-run partnership with sensational Dim Sibley for the third wicket, which strengthened the England team after they lost talented Dan Lawrence for a duck.

India opted to play with 3 spinners in this match, but except for veteran R Ashwin, the other two spinners proved to be ineffective. Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar failed to create any sort of impact as both Root and Sibley played the spinners with ease. (Photo: PTI)
