US Ambassador Eric Garcetti visited the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh situated in Amritsar, describing his visit as a powerful and somber experience.

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on Monday.

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited to Amritsar, Punjab, to see the Golden Temple with his spouse Amy Wakeland, and another family member on Monday.

Garcetti offered prayers at the Golden Temple and also performed 'sewa' (voluntary service). Later, he paid obeisance at 'Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib'.

Garcetti conveyed his deep respect for the Golden Temple, affirming, "There are a few places in the world that are truly sacred -this Golden Temple is right there at the top of that list".

The US envoy expressed his happiness over his visit and said, "It has been a dream of mine to come to the Golden Temple ever since I was a little boy".

During his visit to Jallianwala Bagh, he said, "The echoes of history still resonate in this historic site, where innocent lives were lost. A stark reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom. May we never forget the lessons of the past."

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami honored Garcetti and his family members with a golden model of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, books, and shawls at the information center of the Golden Temple.
