The Government of India presented the foreign leaders and delegates with special gifts as they left Delhi after the successful completion of the G20 Summit. Have a look at the presents below.

The hamper included 'The Champagne of Teas: Pekoe Darjeeling and Nilgiri Tea'. Pekoe Darjeeling and Nilgiri Tea are illustrious gems from India’s tea tapestry, epitomizing the delicate art of tea cultivation and infusion. (Image: ANI)

The box also contained the most exotic and expensive spice in the world, Saffron (‘Zafran’ in Persian, ‘Kesar’ in Hindi). Across cultures and civilizations, saffron has been valued for its unparalleled culinary and medicinal value. The foreign leaders and delegates also got attars in their hampers. Zighrana Ittar is a masterpiece of fragrance hailing from Kannauj, a city in Uttar Pradesh. ‘Attar’, or 'ittar' (meaning ‘perfume’) is an essential oil derived from botanical sources. The Centre presented an ikkat stole in Teakwood box to the spouse of the Prime Minister of Mauritius, a Banarasi stole in Kadamwood box to the spouse of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and another Banarasi Silk stole in an Ebony 'jali' box to the Spouse of the President of Argentina. The gift hamper also contained a Pashmina shawl for the foreign leaders. The Kashmiri Pashmina shawl has many enchanting stories woven into its fabric. ‘Pashm’ means wool in Persian. But in Kashmiri, it refers to the raw unspun wool of the Changthangi goat (the world’s most unique Cashmere goat) found only at a height of 14,000 feet above sea level. The wool is collected by combing (and not shearing) the undercoat of this goat. Skilled artisans hand-spin, weave, and embroider their delicate fibres using age-old processes.
