Sushant Singh Rajput Birth Anniversary: Here's Why SSR Opted Out Of 'Chanda Mama Door Ke'

Sushant Singh Rajput, known for his power-packed performances, would have turned a year older on January 21. The ‘Chhichhore’ star, who made a successful transition from TV to cinema, passed away at the age of 34. His untimely demise left a void the hearts of millions of fans. Be it ‘MS Dhoni-The Untold Story’ or ‘Kedarnath’, SSR managed to leave a strong impression on the audience with his acting skills.

Sushant, who became a household name after playing the role of Manav in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ opposite Ankita Lokhande, was supposed to star in several projects. However, fate had something else in store for him. While some of his projects got shelved, few films will be made with other actors.

Sushant was all set to play the role of an astronaut in ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’; however, he walked out of the project as it got delayed several times. "Since there was a lot of up and down in this film, Sushant will not be able give his dates to this project (Chanda Mama Door Ke) since he has his hands full with many projects,” SSR’s friend Varun Mathur had told PTI. Director Sanjay Puran Singh, while talking to Mid-Day, revealed that he would revive the shelved film. He added that SSR was quite attached to the script.

Sushant was supposed to play the role of Jaswant Singh Rathore, who was one of the bravest men our country ever knew. The film, based on the 196e war, was titled ‘Rifleman’. However, the project landed in legal trouble and couldn’t go on the floors.

Sushant Singh Rajput was quite excited to team up with Shekhar Kapur for ‘Paani’. He went the extra mile to prepare for his role of Gora. However, the film reportedly got shelved after YRF backed out of the project.

Rumi Jaffery, while exclusively talking to ABP News, had revealed that he roped Sushant and Rhea Chakraborty for a film. The shoot was supposed to start in May 2020; however, it got delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. “After the relaxation in lockdown, Sushant advised me to make another film on small scale. The talented actor told me that we should start a new film with a unit of 20-25 members, keeping in mind the lockdown guidelines. I was thinking of working on a new script after Sushant’s advice," Rumi told ABP News.
