Raj And DK Unveil Behind-the-scenes Photos From Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor Starrer Stree

The hit horror comedy Stree, written by Raj and DK, celebrated its sixth anniversary on Saturday.

Raj and DK wrote and produced the first installment of the movie.

Taking to Instagram, Raj and DK shared details about the film's origins.

The cast of the movie included Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi.

“Two back-to-back studio films failed… Typically, this type of situation means the end of a filmmaking career,” they wrote.

The duo then came up with the idea of a “gender reversal” film, where men experience the fears and challenges women face daily.

The filmmaker said many school memories—like Vicky, Jana, Rudra bookstore, Shankar Shastri, and the tailor-shop—were included in the film. Raj and DK completed the script in three weeks.

Raj and DK shared that they created Stree on a small budget, opting to release it in theaters “without a formula” and defying norms.

The filmmaker noted that none of it would have happened without the small coffeeshop, challenges, long friendships, and the belief in breaking mainstream trends.

Now, Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, stands out as the only non-action film among the top six highest-grossing movies of all time.

The film’s writer Niren Bhatt recently hinted at Stree 3, saying, “The next film will feature vampires, expanding on Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree’s shared universe.”
