The former Chief Minister of Bihar underwent kidney transplantation surgery in Singapore last year and was away from his home for seven months. Earlier this month, the RJD supremo attended the opposition meeting in Bengaluru and exuded confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would be ousted in the 2024 general elections. He said that the BJP was slowly getting weakened and would get finished.
In the Bengaluru meeting, the Opposition decided to name their front INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). The next round of deliberations will be held in Mumbai. An 11-member committee will be set up for coordination among the Opposition parties.
In their joint resolution, the parties vowed to defeat the "hatred and violence being manufactured against minorities" as well as "rising crimes against women, Dalits, tribals and Kashmiri Pandits".
