Attack On Manipur CM N Biren Singh's Personal House False And Misleading: Police

The Manipur police stated that "adequate security is already in place."

Reports of mob attack on Chief Minister N Biren Singh's personal residence on Thursday night are false and misleading, Manipur Police stated in an issued statement on its official X handle. The police further stated that "adequate security is already in place."

The news of the mob attack came amid violent student demonstrations in Manipur following the deaths of two youngsters on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the early hours of Thursday, a crowd vandalised the deputy commissioner's office in Imphal West district and set fire to two four-wheelers.

Curfew was reinstated in Imphal East and West districts on Wednesday as security forces battled the violent demonstrations that had left 65 protestors wounded since Tuesday.

A new round of violence erupted in the state capital on Tuesday, a day after photographs of the bodies of two missing teenagers, a man and a girl, went viral on social media.

Earlier, several ministers' homes were attacked in Manipur, which has been embroiled in ethnic violence for about five months.
