Exit From Paris Accord, End Of Work From Home: Trump Signs Key Orders On Day 1

Upon assuming office, President Trump signed 80 executive orders, including pardoning Capitol rioters, reversing Biden-era policies on immigration, climate change, and Cuba.

Hours after taking oath as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump has signed several significant executive orders, including to pull out of Paris Climate Agreement, calling it as 'unfair one-sided Paris climate accord'.

In the order, the White House said, “These agreements steer American taxpayer dollars to countries that do not require, or merit, financial assistance in the interests of the American people.”

Apart from this, Trump has signed as many as 80 executive orders to reverse actions taken by the previous Biden administration. 

Minutes before signing the orders, Donald Trump said, "We will sign executive orders first to revoke nearly 80 destructive and radical executive actions of the previous administration."

Executive orders to end work from home for federal employees has also been signed by Trump. "Heads of all departments and agencies in the executive branch of Government shall, as soon as practicable, take all necessary steps to terminate remote work arrangements," the White House said immediately after the president signed the order, as reported by NDTV.

Here are the key executive orders, US President Donald Trump signed on day 1, after taking the oath:

Trump has also pardoned US Capitol rioters, saying the pardon would cover 1,500 people, which would appear to cover nearly everyone charged since the attack on January 6, 2021. Later, he also commuted the sentences of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys who were convicted of seditious conspiracy.

Other executive actions signed by Trump are related to the definition of "birthright citizenship" and another declaring a "national emergency" at the US' southern border. President Trump said his topmost priority is to declare a national emergency along the US' southern border with Mexico. 

"All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came," he said. He also added that he would order the deployment of troops along the border immediately.

The CNN has reported that the senior leadership at the Executive Office of Review, the Justice Department’s agency overseeing the nation’s immigration courts, were also removed from service.

President Trump also said his day-one orders include those curbing immigration, boost fossil fuel production, and roll back environmental regulations, namely the 2021 Paris Climate accord.

Trump has also revoked the Biden-era executive actions that withdrew Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terror, that applied sanctions on Jewish settlers in the West Bank and which sought to reduce the risks of artificial intelligence.

Another important order that Trump signed was to restore freedom of speech and ending federal censorship. The White House said,"Over the last 4 years, the previous administration trampled free speech rights by censoring Americans' speech on online platforms, often by exerting substantial coercive pressure on third parties, such as social media companies, to moderate, de-platform, or otherwise suppress speech that the Federal Government did not approve."

Donald Trump also said that he will sign executive orders that will begin the process of renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
