Watch: UK defence secy gets 'heckled' by 'Siri' in the middle of parliamentary speech

The other legislators could not control their laughter as Gavin was interrupted by his own mobile phone in between a serious address.

New Delhi: In a hilarious incident in British Parliament, UK’s defence secretary was ‘heckled’ by Siri in the middle of his speech, making other legislators burst out in laughter. Siri, the personal assistant provided by Apple Inc’s iOS, that functions on Artifical Intelligence, chipped in between a serious speech of Gavin Williamson leaving him ‘red-faced’ in the middle of the parliament’s session. The video is being shared widely. It shows the defence secy Gavin Williamson speaking at the House of Commons on the issue related to Syria. Siri got triggered on the mention of the word Syria and started speaking in between Gavin’s address. It was heard speaking: “Hi Gavin I found something on the web for: In Syria, democratic forces supported by ..” While some found the interjection funny , the speaker of the house had to respond saying : “what a very rum business that is.” Gavin instantly apologised by saying: “I do apologise for that sir, it is very rare that you get heckled by your own mobile phone, but on this occasion it is a new parliamentary convention, without a doubt.” He then continued his speech by saying: “ So if I may proceed Mr. speaker without the help and support of Siri..” He later tweeted the incident along with a video uploaded by BBC Parliament, saying that he had a new iPhone and must ask his 13-year-old daughter how to use it. It is not the first time Siri has accidentally become a part of British debate. Earlier in the month of April, Siri was heard ‘speaking from the pocket’ of Transport Minister Jo Johnson during his appearance on BBC Question time.
