Ukraine-Russia Conflict | Indian Embassy In Kyiv Moved To Poland Temporarily Due To Security Situation: MEA

New Delhi: As the tension between Ukraine and Russia continue even after two weeks, the Ministry of External Affairs has decided to move the Indian Embassy in Kyiv to Poland for the time being. 

On Sunday, the Ministry released an official statement saying that the decision has been taken in view of the recent deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, including attacks in the Western part of the crisis-torn country. 

The information was shared by the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Externa Affairs Arindam Bagchi. 

“In view of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, including attacks in the western parts of the country, it has been decided that the Indian Embassy in Ukraine will be temporarily relocated in Poland,” the statement by the MEA said.

It further said that the situation will be further reviewed as per developments. “The situation will be reassessed in the light of further developments,” it said.

Meanwhile, India has been working to rescue Indians, majorly students, stranded in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries under Operation Ganga. The Indian government also roped in Indian Air Force to speed up the evacuation of Indian nationals from these countries.

The MEA had earlier said that all Indians from the hotspots of Ukraine like Kyiv, Kharkiv, etc. have been evacuated. Under operation Ganga, humanitarian aid is also being sent to Ukraine. 

It has been 18 days since Russia sent its troops to Ukraine and the conflict between the two countries is continuing till now. The conflict between the countries has led to the displacement of nearly 2.2 million Ukrainians.
