Israel Asks Citizens To Stay Alert, Avoid Showing Israeli Symbols Openly After Blast Near Delhi Embassy

Israel National Security Council issued travel warning for India after an explosion took place near Israel embassy in Delhi on Tuesday.

The Israeli National Security Council (INSC) has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in India after an explosion took place near Israeli embassy in Delhi on Tuesday. The blast took place near the Israel embassy in Delhi's Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave on Tuesday evening, and no one was hurt in the incident.

"We can confirm that around 5:48 pm, there was a blast in close proximity to the embassy. Delhi Police and the security team are still investigating the situation," Israeli embassy spokesperson Guy Nir told PTI.

The INSC made the recommendations on Tuesady amid concerns of a "recurrence of events", apply especially to New Delhi, according to PTI.

The Israeli nationals have been warned to try to avoid going to crowded places such as malls and markets and places identified as serving Westerners/Jews and Israelis.

The recommendations also include to be on heightened alert in public places (including restaurants, hotels, pubs, etc).

As per the report, the Israeli nationals have also been suggested to avoid openly displaying Israeli symbols, refraining from attending unsecured large-scale events, and avoiding publicising itineraries on social media as well as photographs and details of visits in real-time.

In a press statement earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that there were no casulaties in the explosion.

"The incident is under investigation by the local authorities in full cooperation with the Israeli security forces", the ministry said.

Soon after the explosion took place, in a green belt area outside the Central Hindi Training Institute near the embassy, Delhi Police Special Cell teams, bomb disposal squad and fire department reached the spot and nearly a three-hour-long search operation was carried out.

The site was inspected by a team of National Investigation Agency also, said a senior police officer in New Delhi.
