PM Modi, Scott Morrison To Hold Second India-Australia Virtual Summit On March 21: MEA

The two heads of nation will also hold discussions regarding trade and investment relationship during the upcoming summit.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison will hold the second India-Australia virtual summit on March 21. The two heads of nation will hold discussions regarding trade and investment relationship during the upcoming summit.

“We'll discuss deepening our trade & investment relationship & harnessing new economic opportunities to support our mutual economic recovery & growth,” said the Australian Prime Minister. 

 

The summit will also hold discussions regarding the situation in Ukraine and its implications in the Indo-Pacific region and also the situation in Myanmar. 

“We will also discuss a range of regional and multilateral issues, including the situation in Ukraine and its implications for the Indo-Pacific and Myanmar,” said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“During the upcoming virtual summit, the Leaders will take stock of progress made on various initiatives under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The virtual summit will lay the way forward on new initiatives and enhanced cooperation in a diverse range of sectors between India and Australia. The Leaders are expected to commit to closer cooperation in trade, critical minerals, migration and mobility, and education, among others,” read the official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The First Virtual Summit between both the nations had taken place on June 4, 2020 “when the relationship was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”

PM Modi and PM Morrison had first in-person meeting after the Covid-19 pandemic in Washington DC in September 2021 on the margins of Quad Leaders’ Summit and jointly launched the Infrastructure for Resilience Island States (IRIS) in Glasgow on the sidelines of the COP26 in November 2021.
