Israeli PM Netanyahu Rushing Back To Country After 10 Dead In Rocket Attack On Golan Heights

A rocket attack in the Golan Heights killed 10 people aged 10-20. Israel's PM is returning home urgently. Hezbollah denied responsibility, but Israel accused them of lying.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is returning home urgently following a deadly rocket attack in the Golan Heights, his office confirmed, as reported by news agency Associated Press (AP). The Israeli military reported that all ten victims of the rocket attack on a town in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights were aged between 10 and 20. The attack, which occurred on a soccer field, also wounded several others. This incident followed an Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon that resulted in the death of three members of the militant Hezbollah group.

Hezbollah's chief spokesman, Mohammed Afif, told the Associated Press that the group "categorically denies carrying out an attack on Majdal Shams." However, Israeli Army's Chief spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari countered this, stating to journalists, "Hezbollah is lying."

Israel army said that it 'will prepare response' against Hezbollah after the deadly rocket strike, news agency AFP reported.

Golan Heights Rocket Attack

The rocket attack is the deadliest assault on an Israeli target since hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah resumed in October, sparking fears of a broader conflict in the region.

The Israeli military confirmed that a projectile was identified crossing from Lebanon towards the area. It also noted that it was working with the Magen David Adom (MDA) to evacuate the wounded, AP reported. Channel 12 aired footage showing a large blast in one of the town’s valleys.

Hezbollah issued a statement saying that its militants had fired Katyusha rockets at an Israeli army post in the Golan Heights in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on villages in southern Lebanon. The group had earlier reported that three of its members were killed on Saturday, without specifying the location, AP reported. The Israeli military stated that its air force had targeted a Hezbollah arms depot in the border village of Kfar Kila, noting that militants were present at the time.
