Israel A Terror State Committing War Crimes In Gaza: Turkish Prez Erdogan In Parliament
He also asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make clear whether the country posses nuclear weapons or not.
Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan speaking to lawmakers in the country's parliament on Wednesday called Israel a "terror state" committing war crimes and violating international law in Gaza, reported Reuters. During his address, he reiterated that Hamas was not a terrorist organisation but a political party elected by Palestinians.
He also asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make clear whether the country possesses nuclear weapons or not. Speaking further Erdogan also said that the Israeli PM was a "goner" from his post, reported the news agency.
This comes after Israeli troops entered Gaza's biggest hospital, Al-Shifa, on Wednesday and were searching its rooms and basement in a precise and targeted operation against Hamas.
Al Shifa hospital in Gaza City has become the target of Israeli forces, who claim Hamas fighters have their operations in a headquarters in tunnels beneath it. However, the militant group denies the claims.
Israel has, however, maintained it is not targeting civilians but only Hamas militant group responsible for the October 7 attacks.
Meanwhile, Erdogan had called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas last week, and said "crimes against humanity" were being committed in Gaza.
"There is no concept that could explain or excuse the brutality that we have witnessed since October 7," said Erdogan at a summit of Turkic States in the Kazakh capital Astana.
"To put it bluntly: crimes against humanity have been committed in Gaza for exactly 28 days," he said, as reported by AFP.
Erdogan has strongly supported the Palestinians since the war between Israel and Hamas started. He has been attending pro-Palestinian rallies and has also been positioning himself as a mediator between both the countries
Since October 7, when Hamas militants entered into Israel, killing 1,400 people and kidnapping more than 240, Israel has continuously launched military offensive in Gaza against the militant group.
