US: Indian Doctor Arrested In Michigan For Filming Thousands Of Nude Videos Of Kids, Women
An Indian doctor has been held for multiple sex crimes charges in the US. Oakland County Sheriff described the case as "the most disturbing sexual predator cases" he has ever seen in his career.
A 40-year-old Indian doctor, Oumair Aejaz, working in the United States was held on a $2 million bond after being charged with multiple sex crimes, including recording nude images and videos of children and women for the last six years. Police discovered over 13,000 videos on a single hard drive that were recorded by him. 15 other external devices have also been seized from his house during the investigation.
The Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard has described the case as "the most disturbing sexual predator cases" he has ever seen in his long career.
Aejaz had moved to the US in 2011 on a work visa from India. He completed his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital in Michigan and later moved to Dawson, Alabama. He specialises in internal medicine.
Aejaz returned to Oakland County in Michigan to continue practice in internal medicine in 2018.
His is on the staff at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township and Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
According to a press release by the Sheriff's office in Oakland County in Michigan, Aejaz has been accused of using hidden cameras to record women of various ages and children as young as two. He recorded them at hospital rooms, inside closets, changing areas, bathrooms and bedrooms, which he had access to.
'Most Disturbing Sexual Predator Cases': Sheriff Bouchard
Sheriff Bouchard also said in the statement that the detectives believe he even recorded sexual encounters with multiple women and hospital patients, while they were asleep or unconscious. He also recorded the patients' relatives while they were changing clothes.
"This is one of the most disturbing sexual predator cases I have seen in my very long career," Bouchard said.
"He violates literally anyone and everyone he can. From a 2-year-old boy to grown women, no one is immune from his disgusting predatory behavior. Violating children in safe spaces as they change for a fun swim or sexually violating women who are still under sedation from a medical procedure shows his depravity has no limits. At the end of this case, it is my fervent hope he is held fully accountable behind bars," the Sheriff added.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald stated that her office will use "every resource available" to press the charges against Aejaz.
"These children and moms at a swim school were victimized by a person of trust in the community-- a medical doctor. It's more than an invasion of privacy. It robs these moms and kids, and all of us, of a sense of safety we should have when we're with our kids at a place like that," she stated.
10 Counts Of Charges Against Aejaz, Sheriff Says Will Take Months To Probe His Crimes
The detectives had received a tip about Aejaz on August 7, following which he was arrested at his home the next day. The cops had assembled a case against him and executed a search warrant all in a days time.
Bouchard stated that the detectives have also confiscated six computers and 15 external storage devices from his home. It is being said that it would take the detectives six months to complete the examination of the confiscated materials.
A report by Detroit Free Press said that the case came to the fore when Aejaz's wife provided the recorded materials to law enforcement authorities, prompting the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to execute several search warrants at his home in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Prior to this, Aejaz had no known criminal history.
On August 13, Aejaz was formally charged with 10 counts of charges including one count of child sexually abusive activity, one count of using a computer to create and or reproduce child sexually abusive material, two counts of recording children under the age of 18 while nudel, two counts of recording two women over the age of 18 while nude, and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard stated that the magnitude of Aejaz's offences is so vast that it could take months to fully investigate the extent of his crimes. "The victimisation is so broad and the perversion so great, we're just beginning to wrap our arms around it," he said, adding that it is "disturbing on so many levels".
