Who Is Ryan Routh? Man Arrested For Trump's Assassination Wanted To 'Fight & Die' In Ukraine

AK-47-style assault rifle, a scope, two backpacks and a GoPro device were found at the spot. In an old interview, Ryan had expressed the desire to fight and die in Ukraine.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a 58-year-old Democrat supporter, Ryan Wesley Routh, for an "apparent assassination attempt" against Republican candidate Donald Trump at his Florida golf course.
An AK-47-style assault rifle, a scope, two backpacks and a GoPro device were found at the spot. In an old interview, Ryan had expressed the desire to fight and die in Ukraine, The New York Times reported.

Ryan Routh Supported Vivek Ramaswamy And Nikki Haley

Routh has at times been critical of Trump on social media. On his LinkedIn profile, Routh describes himself as someone with a strong interest in creative projects and mechanical work. He runs Camp Box Honolulu, a shed-building company. He was allegedly supporting Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley in the upcoming elections before they decided to drop out, as per one of his posts.
"You cannot quit. Why? You must stay on the ballot to the end. You must fight. You must continue giving speeches and push all the way to Election Day, no matter the results. Do not give in. Join Nikki and keep working. Never give up," he wrote in an old social media post.

Weeks after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he wrote, "I am willing to fly to Krakow and go to the birder of Ukraine to volunteer and fight and die."
In an interview with The New York Times, Routh had said he was seeking recruits for Ukraine from among Afghan soldiers who had fled the Taliban. He said he planned to move them, in some cases illegally, from Pakistan and Iran to Ukraine.

He had also slammed Trump in another social media post on X. He accused Donald Trump of seeking to "enslave Americans under a master." "We cannot afford to fail...The world is counting on us to show the way," he wrote.

My Father Is Loving And Caring: Routh's Son

The attacker's son, Oran Routh, said the situation has been "blown out of proportion". Describing him ad a loving and caring father, Oran Routh added that it's unlike his father "to do anything crazy or violent."
"Ryan is my father, and I don't have any comment beyond a character profile of him as a loving and caring father and an honest, hardworking man. I don't know what’s happened in Florida, and I hope things have just been blown out of proportion, because from the little I’ve heard, it doesn’t sound like the man I know to do anything crazy, much less violent. He’s a good father and a great man, and I hope you can portray him in an honest light," Oran Routh said

"Fear not! I am safe and well, and no one was hurt. Thank God!" Trump himself said in a website fundraising message.
The incident comes weeks after Trump was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt while addressing a rally in Pennsylvania. The attacker fired a bullet from his sniper from a distance. The suspect was then shot dead by authorities.
