Twitter To Remove Tweets Wishing For Donald Trump's Death By Covid-19; Facebook Lets Users Post Under This Condition
Twitter will not just remove the tweets wishing for Donald Trump's death by Coronavirus but also restrict the user's account to a 'read-only' mode. Meanwhile, Facebook says "It's okay" to post on their platform, however, there is a condition applied.
New Delhi: Twitter has come out against those tweeting about US President Donald Trump's death stating that it will proactively remove tweets by those who write tweets expressing their wish for Trump's death on the platform and will also put their accounts into a "read-only" mode. After the news of Trump and his wife Melania's Covid-19 contraction came in, several people openly wrote about Trump's death on Twitter.
Twitter told Motherboard that users are not permitted to openly hope for Trump's death on their platform and that tweets doing the same "will have to be removed".
Twitter informed about the same on its 'abusive behaviour' policy page, wrote: "We do not tolerate content that wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against an individual or group of people.
"This includes, but is not limited to, hoping that someone dies as a result of a serious disease."

Trump was admitted to the USA's premier military hospital in Washington for several days, restricting his campaigning in the crucial last month ahead of the November 3 US presidential elections. He has two high-risk factors for the coronavirus being at the age of 74 and overweight with 124 kg weight.
Facebook, however, says that its policy differentiates between public figures and private individuals because "we want to allow discussion, which often includes critical commentary of people who are featured in the news or who have a large public audience".
"For public figures, we remove attacks that are severe as well as certain attacks where the public figure is directly tagged in the post or comment," Facebook says.
The report stated that this means "it's OK to post on Facebook" that you hope Trump dies, as long as you do not tag him in the post directly or "purposefully expose" him to "calls for death, serious disease, epidemic disease, or disability".
