COVID-19 Cases Worldwide Cross 6.9 Million Mark; Death Toll At 4,01,964, US Worst-affected Nation
The United States continues to remain the worst-affected nation from the pandemic with positive cases toll at 1,988,544 including 112,096 deaths.
New Delhi: The number of COVID-19 cases in world continued to witness a sharp rise with the overall tally crossing the 6.9-million mark worldwide. As per the Worldmeter figures, the number of positive patients were reported at 6,970,630 with 401,964 deaths. Till now, 3,410,994 people have been treated from the coronavirus infection.
The United States continues to remain the worst-affected nation from the pandemic with positive cases toll at 1,988,544 including 112,096 deaths. Brazil is second on the list of maximum number of coronavirus cases with 6,73,587 including 35,957 deaths and Russia with 4,58,689 cases including 5,725 deaths.
Italy added another 270 confirmed coronavirus cases to its overall tally, including a cluster of two dozen more cases at a Rome hospital that has been sealed off to contain the spread. The Italian civil protection agency on Saturday also reported the deaths of 72 more people with the virus.
New York state, which reported 378,097 cases, has seen a total of 30,324 deaths. New Jersey reported 12,176 fatalities and Massachusetts reported 7,289 fatalities. Other states with over 5,000 COVID-19 deaths included Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Michigan, the CSSE data showed.
The Houston, Texas area has begun to see a significant increase in cases and hospitalizations related to the coronavirus.
