Air Raid Sirens Ring In Most Of Ukraine's Regions On Tuesday Warning Of Russian Attack

After an hour of the warning, Ukrainian Armed Forces Telegram channel told residents of the capital to remain in shelters.

The Ukrainian military on Thursday reported explosions in the capital, Kyiv, and in central and southern Ukraine after air raid sirens sounded across the country, according to Reuters. After an hour of the warning, Ukrainian Armed Forces Telegram channel told residents of the capital to remain in shelters. A witness in Kyiv heard anti-aircraft units in action, according to the Reuters. There were also reports of explosions in other major cities, but it was uncertain whether these were from missile impacts or anti-aircraft activity.

According to the report, warnings were given to a range of other regions aside from the capital, including Zhytomyr west of the capital and Kirovohrad, Cherkasy and Dnipropetrovsk in central Ukraine. As per Reuters, Telegram channels also warned of possible strikes in the central region of Poltava and further south in Mykolaiv region. The north of Kyiv and to the south and west to Vinnystia, Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions were also given warnings.

This comes a day after Ukrainian air defences shot down all missiles aimed at the capital using Western-supplied systems and thwarted an intense Russian air attack on Kyiv early Tuesday.

The bombardment, targeted locations across Ukraine, included six Russian Kinzhal aero-ballistic hypersonic missiles, the most fired in a single attack in the war so far, according to Ukrainian air force spokesman Yurii Ihnat, told the Associated Press.

However, late Tuesday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that they have not launched as many Kinzhals Ukraine has allegedly shot down with their statements.

Loud explosions boomed over Kyiv in the major nighttime attack apparently aimed at overwhelming Ukraine’s air defences, on Tuesday. Kyiv’s mayor reported three people were wounded.
